Polruan is an ancient fishing village famous for its boat building heritage. Perfectly positioned on the Fowey river estuary which is a thriving centre for fishing seafaring shipbuilding and agriculture. This remoteness gives the area an unspoilt charm with its narrow streets and alleyways where flights of slate steps twist between the houses. Further afield there are plenty of places to visit why not visit the tall ships at Charlestown take the brewery tour in St Austell or visit the Eden project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Polruan is a quaint little village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.. Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via slopes/ steps some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.. There are many small winding roads in and around Polruan that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Polruan do not have private parking. However, there is a large pay and display carpark at the top of the village about a 5 8 minute walk away from the cottage up the steep hill..
