This one bedroom, self contained apartment is situated within the grounds of Netherby Hall. Named Engineer after the horse drawn coaches that drove through the nearby town of Longtown in the nineteenth century, this charming apartment overlooks the Netherby Estate Parklands which roll out to the Solway and picturesque Scottish Hills.

Beautifully restored, Engineer Apartment provides characterful and very well-equipped accommodation with a cosy wood burning stove, a generous bedroom with magnificent views of the parkland; and a luxurious bathroom with a roll-top bath and large, walk-in shower.

The first floor apartment sits in 36 acres of parkland, where you can stroll across manicured lawns, enjoy a Victorian pleasure garden and walk through a walled garden that stretches for over an acre. The estate is nestled in north Cumbria, with spectacular views over the undulating landscape to the Scottish hills beyond. Glorious walks abound, including a path alongside the River Esk, a burbling brook that is beautifully clear.

The history of Netherby Hall dates back to Roman times, and parts of the grand house may even have been built using stones from a Roman fort. Beautifully decorated, the apartments and cottages are all thoroughly modern, with plenty of touches of 21st century luxury.

For larger groups, the neighbouring properties Clock Tower Apartment (sleeps two guests); Coach House (sleeps four guests); The Sir Walter Scott Apartment (sleeps four guests); Gardener's Cottage (sleeps four guests); Groom's Quarters Apartment (sleeps four guests); Independent Apartment (sleeps four guests); Middle Lodge (sleeps four guests) and Salutation Apartment (sleeps two guests) are also available to book within the grounds of Netherby Hall.
