A Bit of History

Pets Are Welcome started life as Where Pets Are Welcome over a decade ago. The idea was simple: finding pet-friendly places to stay shouldn’t be a hassle. Over the years, the site grew into a trusted resource for pet owners looking for accommodation where their pets weren’t just tolerated, but genuinely welcomed.

Then came the pandemic. Like many things, the site had to take a back seat for a while, and for a time, it seemed like it might be gone for good. But now, Pets Are Welcome is back—refreshed, rebuilt, and once again helping people and their pets find great places to stay.

Why I Started This

Growing up, pets were always part of my life. My parents had German Shepherds—Sheeba, when I was a baby, and Sam, who was by my side throughout my teens. These days, I share my home with Taily and Stumpy, two calico sisters. Stumpy is a Manx, which means she’s missing the usual long tail, but she more than makes up for it in personality.

Being a pet owner myself, I know how important it is to find places that don’t just allow pets but actually cater to them. That’s why I continue to run this site—so that you and your pets can enjoy trips without the stress.

UK-Based, Pet-Focused

Unlike some bigger platforms, petsarewelcome.uk is entirely UK-based and independent. There are no faceless algorithms running the show—just a pet owner who wants to make travel easier for other pet owners. Whether you’re looking for a cottage by the sea, a countryside retreat, or a city break with your dog or cat in tow, you’ll find places that truly welcome pets here.
